Did You Know The Temperature Of You’re Nose Rises When You Lie?

Dubbed the Pinocchio effect, it’s as close as you’re going to get in real life to the tale of the boy whose nose would grow when he lied.

Pinocchio Effect Of Lying

Researchers in Granada, Spain investigated the effect of lying on the temperature of a person’s face. They discovered that the temperature jumps, specifically in the region around the nose.

Using a technique called thermography, it was found that the temperature rises around the area of the nose and the inner corners of the eye.

They also found that the temperature seems to go down when someone performs a mental task which requires some thinking. Anxiety seems to cause the temperature to rise.

So if you suspect someone of lying, then watch out for a red nose…
