Did You Know In Some US States You Can Be Punished For Being Homeless?

It sounds crazy and that’s because it probably is. Some US states punish people for being homeless. This definitely warrants a place in the bizarre category.

Punished For Being Homeless

For example in Houston, a person can be arrested for going through garbage bins for food. This is because it goes against a specific law about disturbing the contents of a garbage can.

If you think that’s bad, check this one out in San Francisco. The laws are so strict in relation to panhandling that a man was sentenced to 3 years probation for falling asleep on a milk crate!

Even a person who falls asleep whilst sitting up right on a side walk in San Francisco is considered to be committing a crime.
