It was in 1981 when Reagan became the 40th President of the United States. For the inauguration festivities that were taking place, three and a half tons of jelly bellies were shipped to the White House.

In order to mark the event, the new blueberry jelly belly flavour was developed. This would mean that there would blue, red and white jelly bellies at the festivities, the colours of the US flag.

Today, the blueberry jelly belly is one of the favourite flavours of consumers. So if it weren’t for Ronald Reagan, there might not have been a blueberry jelly belly!
